DOUG SMILES A BRIEF HISTORY

Douglas was born in 1951 and lives in North Tyneside. He started his working life at the age of 16 as an appenticed cabinet maker before joining the Ordnance Survey as a cartographic draughtsman.
Douglas studied art at The School of Art and Design, Newcastle upon Tyne and later he studied technical illustration at The College of Art and Design, Blackpool.
Douglas has exhibited his art work in "The Landscape Seascape" and "People Show" exhibtions held by The University of Northumberland.
Douglas has exhibited his art work with both The Guild of Aviation Artists and The Royal Society Of Marine Artists in their annual exhibitions held at the Mall Gallery, London.
In 1998 Douglas was a finalist in "The Laing Landscape Seascape Exhibition" also held at the Mall Gallery.
Douglas has also exhibited his work in Glasgow and Coventry.
